Teachers and agents to be aware. Save time and money.
This is an important reminder. If you have a work permit with a single entry non-b, and you want to leave Thailand on vacation and return to Thailand and continue to teach, you MUST purchase a reentry permit before you leave Thailand. This can be done at any local immigration office or at one of Thailand’s major international airports in Chiang Mai or Bangkok (see below post for instructions). If you do not purchase a reentry permit your work permit and visa will be voided when you return and you will be forced to reenter on a 30 day tourist visa.
Two teachers recently have made this mistake so we just wanted to alert everyone to be very careful to do this and if you have any questions or concerns about this please contact me. Thanks and have a great week!
Hey Everyone – We have had some questions recently from teachers regarding Visas and specifically re-entry permits, so we have put some information together on the subject.
For those whose who have a Non-B visa that has not yet expired and want to travel outside of Thailand, you need to get a re-entry permit so that your visa does not become expired on leaving the country.
Required Documents to prepare:
– Passport or eligible travel document and its copy, (main page and latest entry stamp).
– A completed TM-8 form
– One 4 x 6 cm. headshot photo
– 1,000 Baht fee for single entry and 3,800 Baht for multiple entry.
Locations:
– Suvarnabhumi Airport – on 4th level, zone 2 at the Passenger Terminal Building on the east side. – Open 24/7
– DMK Airport – just beyond the immigration counters is a large office with glass windows, and a sign that says Overstays and Re-entry. – Open 24/7 (ask a member of staff if no one is manning the desk)
– Local Immigration – You can visit any local immigration centre to obtain a re-entry permit – The processing time at Thai Immigration can vary from 1 hour to half a day, so if you prefer not to queue, apply before lunch so you can pick it up later the same day. – Generally Open 8.30-4.30 Mon-Fri (you should, however, check your the specifics of your local centre as this may differ)
