Hello, I would like to talk about the 7-elevens, which are located all over Thailand. There are over 10,000 7 Elevens in Thailand. They are very convenient, clean, and have extremely helpful employees. You can do so many things inside of a 7-eleven. You can pay for your plane tickets, pay your electricity bill, and most of the time, you can pay your phone bill as well. They have a barista inside in most of the 7-11s. They have snacks, drinks, bread to make sandwiches, and fresh fruit. If you want something quick to eat, they have so many choices to choose from, and if you need it heated up, they can do it for you at the counter. If you’re hot and want something to cool you down, they have ice cream, a soda machine, and a great selection of cold drinks as well. When you purchase a beer, the cashier will always ask you “Would you like me to open it for you?” it’s almost always in Thai of course, but it’s so helpful, especially when you don’t have a bottle opener.
They carry more than just beer, they have wine, hard liquor, and wine coolers. They make living in Thailand, a lot easier.
Now, let’s talk about the stamps you receive after purchasing stuff in the 7 eleven stores. The stamps are an annual promotion taking place at all the 7-11s across Thailand. It takes place during the autumn every year, with each year’s stamps showing different characters and themes. This year, the stamps feature the different provinces of Thailand and a product that province is known for. So, you pick up a stamp booklet from the cashiers, and start filling up it. If you collect enough stamps, you can redeem for specially-branded merchandise like tablets, chairs, dinnerware, etc. It takes quite a few stamps to do this, but if you look on the front page of your stamp booklet, you can see what you need to save to reach your goal. If you don’t wat to save your stamps, you can leave them with the cashiers, and they will donate them to a local charity. Some stores have a stamp page taped to the wall where you can stick your stamps as you leave. This goes towards the donation. It’s one baht at a time, but every little bit helps.
You receive one 1-baht stamp for every 50 baht you spend. There are certain items, however, which are marked with a promotion, allowing you to receive a number of specially colored 3-baht stamps. So, when you receive those stamps, either save them, or give them to the cashier. I do hope all of you enjoy the 7-11 stores, as I have.
